Born in 1963, in addition to a degree in Foreign Languages from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice in 1988, he has achieved important educational milestones, again in the field of linguistics, earning a teaching certificate in high school for French and English. Prior to establishing the translation company Rapitrad in 1990, he worked with institutions and companies in the role of translator and linguistic expert and held numerous teaching positions, keeping them active over the years, while simultaneously retaining ownership of Rapitrad, until becoming its President and CEO. Since then, he has dedicated himself exclusively to the role of entrepreneur, putting his experience and technical-professional skills at the service of his company, leading it to be recognized among the leaders in the industry, both nationally and internationally. Complementing an already significant curriculum, Dr. Silvestrini has acquired prestigious honorary titles and awards, one of them being the appointment as President of EUATC – European Union of Associations of Translation Companies based in Brussels obtained in 2011 and the appointment as President of Unilingue – one of the largest federation of translation centers in Europe, affiliated to Confindustria Servizi Innovativi in Rome – a success obtained in 2005, a position he holds to this day, after 18 years of honorable career. In addition, there are numerous interventions as a speaker in important seminars, workshops and events at bodies and associations of international importance, as well as participation as a qualified member in Committees and Projects of DGT – Directorate General for Translation of the European Commission in Brussels. It is precisely because of these qualifications that he was appointed External Expert in the European Commission’s Language Industry Experts Group (LIND), the European Commission’s elite group of experts in which 12 qualified experts from the European translation industry make their expertise available to the Commission for the European and global translation industry. And because of his merits, EUATC appointed Dr. Silvestrini Ambassador to the European Commission.
